LOW COST UV LIGHT METER
It is being used today across Australia in a number of applications, including the production of baby powder.
In order to ensure that the baby powder is safe to use, a process using UV light is used during the manufacturing process to ensure that any bacteria that could have been present is eradicated. This process is called ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) is a disinfection method that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet (UV-C) light to kill or inactivate micro-organisms by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA.
This irradiation process is widely used for food, air, and water purification.
The Luton YK-35UV is used to monitor the amount of UV light being used during the irradiation process, to ensure it is at a level high enough to kill off any bacteria.
The Lutron YK-35UV can measure both long wave 390nm ultra-violet irradiance and short wave 260nm ultra-violet irradiance, making it a highly versatile tool.
The Lutron YK-35UV comes complete with a UV sensor probe.
